It was recently Steve Winwood’s birthday. Here’s an article in which I meet and speak with his former band leader Spencer Davis about the child prodigy, on the spectacularly beautiful island of Catalina.

I was flattered, although a bit tense being on that side of the camera. I read from my book, Ragamuffin’s Tale, and they asked me about times at Nellcote. They also interviewed Dominique Tarlé, who said the house was basically run by the kids, lol!

Reviews

'A beautiful website, I Love it'. Author, Joanna Harcourt-Smith.

‘’I can only commend Charley for his brutal honesty. Not since Tony Sanchez’ drug fuelled tell all tale, ‘’Up And Down With The Rolling Stones’’, has there been a more engrossing memoir of that tumultuous period of history...it is fascinating… a breathtaking journey, which I urge you to take.’’

Author and music writer - Ian Hartley

’‘You will be entranced by the comings and goings of rock’s greatest characters, introduced by first names, and how the Weber family became intertwined with them all. From making films with The Beatles to living the rock ‘n’ roll dream in the south of France with The Stones, to international drug smuggling, it’s all there.’’

Producer VH1‘s original Behind the Music - Chrissy Shannon

“A unique and smoothly constructed reminisce of an unusual life. Required reading.”

Author and film director - Geir Hornes

’’Although the vast majority of readers are never going to live with Keith Richards, have a Beatle show up in their living room, or have their father strap a kilo of cocaine to their chest in order to smuggle it through French customs and present it to Mick Jagger as a wedding present, the author has the unique ability to make his unorthodox life and upbringing perfectly relatable to the collective human experience and condition. Charley’s descriptive writing style invokes crisp mental imagery and elicits an emotional response so keen that it truly feels as if you are there, living out the scenes as they unfurl onto paper (or screen).'’

Clinical addictions therapist - Barbara Anna Marion

If it wasn’t for work, I would have read this in one session. An amazing story that must have taken some courage to write - he should be proud. We are all who we are and cannot change that fact. I often look back and have regret about my childhood, but our childhoods make us what we are in adulthood. It seems that his incredible journey has done him well. Very well done on the book Charley. I certainly recommend it as being an extraordinary read.
